This will be my all-time favorite sidewalk cafe in Paris. It’s right across the street from Saint Sulpice.
After a rather disconcerting visit to the cathedral, where we encountered a written demonstration against the book, The Da Vinci Code, we landed in these little yellow chaises for le petit dejeuner.
And it was a feast, with baguettes, salade nicoise and excellent coffee creme.
Sidewalk cafes are always interesting in a chic-chic area like this … as French ladies walk by your table with the scent of their perfume trailing behind them, you get a potpourri of marvelous fragrances at a better price than in the shops.

And so we discover that the Scots are in town (perhaps the whole island of them) for the World Cup. The streets in La Marais and the Latin Quartre are full of them. How delightful!

This is where we learn a new word: peepin’. “If you hate the peepin’ English, sit down!” And later verses, “If you hate the peepin’ English, take off your shirt!”

Lo! The sound of bagpipes and rowdy singing fills the streets. Even the Lady Gendarmes are smiling at these guys and their friendly antics.

Some of these photos just defy description! Like this one … two Scots that we chatted with. I exchanged a photo opportunity for KISSES! Drat — why did I not take more photos?!

This was a great find just outside the gates of Place des Voges! A shop with my very own name on it. And shawls for sale inside … at more francs than you could fill a shoebox with, unfortunately.
